How to Raise Check Raise in Poker Tournaments:
Allen
You are playing a Poker tournament and you find that while you are in a big blind, a frequent button raiser is attacking your blind on virtually every round.
Pulling off an occasional check-raise bluff! on the flop can give you back a lot of those lost bets and calls, and keep your opponent honest.
Another common sight at poker tournaments is a player who knows how to take advantage of position. The player then open-raises the pot every time it is folded to the pre-flop landing in late position. Obviously, due to the good implied pot odds, you risk a call with a marginal hand. If you miss, you can fold quietly but if you hit big, you can get the whole stack.
Typically, here you can call the raise and check the flop. If the player continues to bet, you will have to fold costing you hugely. Sticking in an occasional check raise in poker tournaments on the flop as a bluff can stop this loss.
